CDHE launches Advisors LEAD – an equity-focused professional development certification

DENVER, CO, Aug. 3, 2021: The Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) announces the launch of Advisors LEAD – a free, online professional development course for academic advisors at Colorado’s colleges and universities. The course includes comprehensive training on equity in advising, prepares advisors to operate effectively in a virtual environment, and provides guidance on how to help students find the right math course and discover broader curriculum to support their career goals.
 

More students of color participate in Colorado’s dual enrollment programs

DENVER, CO, July 19, 2021 - More than 53,000 students took at least one dual enrollment course during the 2019-20 academic year, according to a report released jointly today by the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and Colorado Department of Education (CDE). This was an increase of nearly 2,900 students from 2018-19, or a 5.6% jump in dual enrollment participation overall.

Four Colorado campuses earn Hunger Free and Healthy Minds designations as they work to erase hunger and address the mental health needs of college students

DENVER, CO, June 21, 2021 - The Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE), today announced that four institutions of higher education—Colorado State University, Colorado State University Pueblo, Fort Lewis College, and Metropolitan State University of Denver have earned Hunger Free and Healthy Minds designations for their work to end hunger and address the mental health needs of their students.

Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative approves 40 new local scholarship proposals

DENVER, CO, May 26, 2021 - The Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) board approved 40 proposals that will provide more than $3 million in scholarships for Colorado students.

The COSI board awarded $3,012,782 to match locally-fundraised scholarship dollars one-to-one during the third and final round of awards for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. This funding will support more than 1,740 students across the state. 

Department statement on Colorado public colleges and universities requiring the COVID vaccine

DENVER – April 27, 2021: Today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis stated support of all of Colorado's postsecondary students getting the COVID-19 vaccine for the fall. This comes after Fort Lewis College, the University of Denver and Colorado College announced they would require students to be fully vaccinated when returning this fall.
 

Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative approves 15 new local scholarship proposals

DENVER – April 13, 2021:  The Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) board approved 15 proposals that will provide more than $1.1 million in scholarships for Colorado students.   
 
The COSI board awarded $1,147,242 to match locally-raised scholarship dollars one-to-one during the second round of awards for 2020-2021. This funding will support more than 720 students across the state.
