Educator Financial Aid Training
In an effort to increase FAFSA and CASFA completion rates across Colorado, HB22-1366: Improving Students' Postsecondary Options places a strong emphasis on providing financial aid training to those on the frontlines of student support— educators, counselors, and family engagement professionals.
The Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE), through its Outreach and Community Engagement division, is developing comprehensive training options designed to align with the latest financial aid information, application processes (both federal and state), and proven best practices. These trainings are crafted to empower educators and professionals who assist students and families with navigating financial aid.
About the Training
- Who Should Attend: Educators and professionals supporting grades 9–12 in FAFSA or CASFA completion efforts
- Format: In-person training from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM followed by completion event for students and families from 5:30 PM- 7:30 PM at institutions of higher education throughout Colorado
- Continuing Education Credit: Participants earn 5 continuing education credits upon completion
Whether you’re a counselor, teacher, or community professional, this training is an opportunity to stay current, build confidence, and strengthen your ability to support students in securing financial aid for their postsecondary journey.

FAFSA/CASFA Lunch and Learn Series
It is critical that everyone who helps students complete their financial aid application, receive training. Join the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Outreach and Community Engagement team for a monthly virtual FAFSA/CASFA Lunch & Learn series.
These free webinars provide high school counselors and staff, student advocates, community education partners and professionals involved in FAFSA/CASFA processes the opportunity to attend this live webinar to obtain relevant financial aid information they can use to support their students. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and collaborate.
Webinars are from noon to 1 p.m. on:
