DENVER – September 12, 2025: Today, the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) announced Colorado Transfer: Credits at Altitude Go Farther, a website designed to make the college credit transfer process more transparent, efficient and student-friendly.

“We are making it easier to transfer credits to get your degree. This new website is part of that work and it will help save time and money when a student decides to transfer schools. I look forward to seeing Colorado students take advantage of it,” said Governor Polis.

Colorado Transfer empowers students, advisors and families with the tools they need to better understand how academic credits earned at one Colorado institution can transfer to another—whether moving between community colleges, four-year universities or returning to finish a degree.

“Too often, students lose time, money and credits because the transfer process is unclear or inconsistent,” said Dr. Angie Paccione, executive director of CDHE. “Colorado Transfer simplifies that process and puts the power of planning into students’ hands, helping them make informed choices that keep them on track to graduation.”

“As a working mom with two kids in college, I know how stressful the cost of higher education can be,” said Senator Janice Marchman. “Families and students are just trying to make smart choices and get ahead. This site helps them see how the work they’ve already done can count. If a student takes college classes in high school or earns credits in other ways, they should not have to guess if those efforts will pay off. Now they don’t have to.”

Key features of Colorado Transfer include:

  • Details on how credits from other institutions, standardized tests (such as AP, DSST, or IB), and prior learning or work-based experiences are applied toward degree programs
  • Clear listings of courses in the guaranteed transfer (GT) pathway matrix and other statewide transfer agreements
“As a high school teacher and a parent, I know how critical this website will be for Colorado’s students, counselors and parents, who want the best information for navigating their college journey, from start to finish, all on one site,” said Representative Eliza Hamrick.

The platform was created following the passage of HB25-1038: Postsecondary Credit Transfer Website (the prime sponsors were Representative Eliza Hamrick, Representative Dusty Johnson, Senator Janice Marchman, and Senator Mark Baisley) and funded through a grant from the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA). This bill instructed the Department to create an online platform to provide students pursuing postsecondary education with information about academic credit transfers. This website was developed with careful consideration of its end-users, with input from students, registrars and academic advisors shaping the first phase of this tool.

“House Bill 25-1038 gives students the clear, straightforward information they need to plan their education with confidence,” said Representative Dusty Johnson.  “More transparency means less stress and fewer surprises, a real win for every student looking ahead to their future.”

CDHE has applied for grant funding to continue the next phase of the website, which could include the creation of a standalone site, new high-value interactive tools, enhanced features and scalable data sharing.
