Chief educational equity officer launches tour of Hispanic-serving institutions as part of National Hispanic American Heritage Month

DENVER, CO – Sept. 13, 2022: Dr. Roberto Montoya, chief educational equity officer for the Colorado Department of Higher Education, will tour several Hispanic-serving institutions this month with stops this week to Colorado State University Pueblo, Metropolitan State University of Denver and Adams State University.
 
The tour kicks off during National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week, from Sept. 12-18, 2022, and National Hispanic American Heritage Month. There are 13 higher education institutions in the state designated as HSI. To receive HSI designation by the U.S. Department of Education, an institution must have undergraduate full-time enrollment that is comprised of at least 25% Hispanic students and demonstrate a high concentration of students who are eligible for Pell Grants.
 
Dr. Montoya will meet with presidents, students, faculty, administrators and community members. He’ll tour the campuses and hold roundtable discussions, igniting conversation about the higher education landscape, issues and trends. He’ll also be available at certain locations to meet with local media.
