Five distinguished Colorado postsecondary institutions receive this year’s designation
DENVER – To launch Career Development Month in November, the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) announced that five higher education institutions have earned this year’s Career Connected Campus Designation. The designation sets a high standard for how campuses engage in practices that prepare students for employment commensurate with their postsecondary credentials.
The five postsecondary institutions receiving the Career Connected Campus Designation for 2026-2029 are:
- Colorado State University-Fort Collins
- Community College of Aurora
- Metropolitan State University of Denver
- University of Northern Colorado
- Western Colorado University
"In Colorado, we believe every student deserves a clear pathway from the classroom to a thriving career,” said Governor Jared Polis. “The Career Connected Campus Designation is more than a recognition—it’s a commitment to ensuring our institutions are equipping learners with the skills, experiences and opportunities needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving workforce. By creating stronger connections between education and industry, we’re building a future where talent meets opportunity, right here in our state."
The designation prioritizes practical skills, professional development and career readiness alongside academic learning. A career-connected college or university campus is committed to empowering students with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to succeed in their chosen careers and make meaningful contributions to their respective industries.

Representing two-year and four-year public institutions that serve both urban and rural communities, these five colleges exemplify a strong commitment to student success and workforce readiness across Colorado.
