Fall 2019 Conference

Conference Goals:

  • “Revisit, Revise, and Renew” existing Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreements (STAAs) in selected disciplines/program areas to improve their Simplicity, Transparency, and Portability.
  • Affirm the content knowledge and competencies associated with the bachelor’s degree and ensure that the collection of courses in the STAAs best prepare students for success in upper-division study and in the field upon graduation.
  • Identify potential obstacles to more frequent use of STAAs and recommend course changes and other strategies for overcoming these obstacles.
  • Strengthen collaborative and collegial relationships among faculty from different institutions, particularly between two-year and four-year institutions.
  • Continue efforts to develop a Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreement in engineering.

 

Who Should Attend This Conference?

  • Four-year university faculty who teach or develop curriculum for degree programs in biology, business, chemistry, early childhood education, elementary education, engineering, physics, and psychology (BA and BS).
  • Two-year college faculty who teach or advise students interested in pursuing bachelor’s degrees and careers in biology, business, chemistry, early childhood education, elementary education, engineering, physics, and psychology (BA and BS).
  • Academic administrators who are engaged in program development, curriculum design, and transfer initiatives related to one of the listed areas.
  • Academic advisors, transfer coordinators, and others deeply familiar with the use of STAAs by faculty, current and prospective students, families, and high school counselors.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT COMPUTER SCIENCE FACULTY WILL NOT MEET IN PUEBLO. A conference call will be arranged for the coming weeks to help move forward the STAA in computer science that was discussed at the April 2019 Fac2Fac conference.

Conference Goals:

  • Create new Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreements in disciplines/program areas identified based on trends in student enrollment, workforce demands, and faculty interest: computer science, dance, engineering, journalism, and public health.
  • Identify the content knowledge and competencies associated with bachelor’s degree earners in the listed areas and create course/degree plans most likely to lead to their acquisition.
  • Identify, from the perspective of faculty, obstacles that impede student progress toward successful completion of the associate and bachelor’s degree in the listed areas, and strategies for overcoming these obstacles.
  • Strengthen collaborative and collegial relationship among faculty from different institutions, particularly between two-year and four-year institutions.

Colorado Momentum Action Summit

Conference Goals:

  1. Deepen understanding of the Complete College America "Momentum Pathways" project and the priority that institution, system, and state-level leaders have placed on the initiative.
  2. Further institutional commitment to scale up implementation of known "Game Changers" to get more students across the degree finish line in a shorter amount of time.
  3. Develop institutional strategies to advance student success through proactive advising; acquisition of college-level skills in writing and math; and use of academic maps and clear pathways to a degree.

Competency-Based Education Faculty & Employer Conference

  • When: Friday, Feb. 16, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Goals:

  • Build momentum for the ideas that came out of the October 2017 Sectors Summit.
  • Explore how competency-based education can better connect higher education, K12 and workforce.
  • Practice building flexibility and acceleration into courses, certificates and degree programs that meet workforce demand and help ensure retention and completion by utilizing competency-based education.

Guided Pathways to Success: Colorado Statewide Convening - Hosted by the Colorado Department of Higher Education & Colorado State University

We have officially rescheduled the Guided Pathways to Success 2017 Convening for Tuesday, July 25. The event will be held in Fort Collins at Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center, and the agenda will be very similar to the previous version.
