Admission and Transfer Policy Review

Final policy to go into effect as early as fall 2016 (Posted 12/24/2014)


The Admission and Transfer Policy Review task force began meeting in May of 2012 to identify successes and gaps in the current Admission Policy, review high school graduation guidelines, other state admission and transfer policies, and make policy revision recommendations to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education that align with the remedial education policy. The CCHE approved the revised policy (with one change, which delayed implementation by one year) on Dec. 5, 2013.


The task force charge was to:

  • Consider effects of current policy on student success
  • HEAR and index
  • Embed Colorado Academic Standards & national consortia assessments
  • Align admission and remedial education policies
  • Consider rigor of curriculum in high school
  • Develop policy for Postsecondary Workforce Readiness Endorsed Diploma

Task Force Goals

  • Create a clear policy for all (students, parents, families, counselors)
  • Create a transparent policy that aligns with P-12
  • Create multiple pathways to success

Process Goals

  • Create a data-driven and deliberate process
  • Task force and Advising Board commit to being fully present and to communicate with their respective constituents.
